If you know an artist is not a good person, can you still enjoy their work?

Honestly knowing everything about everybody in the modern age taints the work. We don't know if Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo were wife beaters or alcoholics or Anti-Semites. Yet their work is still revered.

I had an original painting in my house from an artist who turned out to be a horrid person and tried to steal from us. I ended up selling that painting to get it out of our house.
