Most unusual name of a child you know personally

I was in 4th grade with a girl named Krystal Waters. Her middle name was Spring.

I lived in Florida, of course.

A woman at my church is named Crystal. She's married to David Ball. It took me years to realize that her name is... Crystal Ball!

It had me laughing out loud, slapping my hands walrus-style that a woman is naming her child a French pronoun that simply means "She" - and she didn't even know it. But she was so excited and had the name picked out and everything. In the age of the internet, there is no excuse.


Oh good for you. Laughing at people because they don't speak french. Maybe she was thinking Elle McPherson or Elle Woods. What an ass.

2) I'm not making fun of someone not speaking French. I'm making fun of someone who picks out a name, and doesn't even do a quick Google search to know what they're naming their child. And it was hilarious! I love Batali!

Batali is known for being a total a$$hole, so it doesn't surprise me at all that he was trying to act superior to a tv guest. He is good friends with Gwyneth after all.

Whenever I see a thread like this, I wonder if my DD will be on it (so far, so good)!

We're an interracial family and gave her a very unusual name in the U.S. (it's very common in DH's home country and sounds pretty in English, though it's spelled in an unusual way).

I think that's how it works for all names. Unfamiliar names seem odd but, once you know someone, the name becomes as common to you as John or Jane.

I dated an Arden years ago. He was so hot and a really nice guy too.
