Does anyone actually like their in-laws?

Love them both. They flew out here for birth of our son. When they get the baby a gift, they also get my 7 year old son from previous marriage a gift. They took my son to the zoo few day before his half-brothers birth, so I can rest.
They don't speak much English, but they are old school just like my own parents back at home. They are also immigrant just like I am.Maybe that fact has something to do with liking and understanding them well.

HAHAHAHA....My ILs are happy if we are giving them something, a job, what have you....other than that, forget it.

In my imagination, my MIL is giving, accomplished, kind, funny and fun. I went out with someone for years, and his step mom (and dad and siblings) welcomed me with open arms, all the women and men were treated evenly and well. Each of the kids were showered with time and attention and activities (that don't cost anything).

We were not that much alike, but we knew how to enjoy each other, it takes two sides, and they made the effort. It was not an arbitrary dictatorship like DH's family.

I come from a large, fun, loud family, and it really does beat the sullen clan, hands down.

The ILs of my ILs are great though, so that helps. I think we have a wink and nod agreement of some sort, which is nice.

This is one of the nicest posts I've ever read. I love how your ILs are treating your son from a previous marriage! What a kind-hearted, thoughtful way to relate to you and to him. You're both lucky to have them.

Yes, I love all of my inlaws and really like most of them - somewhat dislike the one who is an untreated addict. Other than that they have their quirks, but they are super loving and above-and-beyond supportive. Can't complain.
