HHI 600k - Husband Wants To Quit

Anonymous
Looks like OP has taken some of her ample vacation now that we have called her out on this nonsense.

Can't stand when people use the term HHI when it's one person's income. Yes, defensive SAHMs, it's technically accurate, blah blah. Still annoying.

Leave a 600k job with 16 weeks vacation that he actually likes???? That would be the definition of insanity.

But he could make $100M!

OP, why is his income 1099, not W-2? If it was 1099, he would most likely have unlimited vacation.

Radiologist? Anathesiologist? -- sorry spelled this wrong, I don't even care!

sorry, but radiologist do not make that much money unless a partner doing private. at 30? i don't think so unless the husband is out of this world.

Sounds like a mythical creature alright!

I work in a hospital. I call complete BS on OP' numbers.

Since your DH is the one who has to go to work every day to earn the money, I think he's the one who should decide which job he goes to. As long as he's providing the basics for your family, he should decide how he wants to do it. You should support his choice.

OP, the answer to this question would be helpful to understanding the amount of risk you can reasonably take. What is your career?

I'm a SAHM. Won't answer what I did before (it would out me), but I can't make up the difference.

His income during new op would be good - half of now. What happens if it all folds? Then what?

It would out you? Don't tell me you are that lawyer who became a teacher and SAHM all against your husbands wishes

They are paid so much because there are so few who make it through 10+ years of being paid crap while working 80-90 a week. My guess is your DH is a year or so into his residency and beginning to realize this isn't for him. You have looked up online what he could make and are weighing your options.

I say do the startup. The life of a specialists is harder than you think especially as the ACA is rolled out and things begin to change payment wise.

+1
I think OP is comparing anticipated income/vacation, not the actual one.

Wrong. MOHs is not a field that someone makes 600K overnight. New MOHs surgeons take forever to build their network of referral doctors. In fact our area is dominated by a handful.

Is it a scam?

Not to those of us who've had and are now cancer-free and not disfigured.

Sometimes it's overprescribed and done in a hospital instead of a doctor's office, so the hospital can collect massive "facility fees" and dozens of other bullshit line items.

Overprescribed? It's not a drug, it's a procedure that used used to save facial features while removing skin cancer. I don't know how it can possibly be a scam. I've never heard of it being performed in a hospital setting, only offices.

And neither do anesthesiologist in their early 30ties around here.

This thread is a load of bs

I spent my health to get wealth, then spent my wealth to get health
