How do you bag as you go? You scan at one end and you bag at the other. A lot of running back and forth.

Giant is a terrible store that sells rotten food. Its parent company got in big trouble for securities fraud several years ago.

They're building a new Giant on Wisconsin Avenue in N.W. Giant promises that it will carry 50 varieties of Pringles.

? You use the handheld scanner or app.

I have never seen rotten food at Giant. Safeway, yes.

This thread reeks of elitism. You can buy "real, whole" foods at all the stores in this thread, just like you can buy junk at all of them.

Grow your own food, raise your own chickens, make your own soap.

Anonymous wrote:Giant ain't cheap, PP. I used to buy the Blue Diamond Almonds in the big bags there. They were priced at 7-something a bag and were often on sale at 5-something a bag.

Shopped there last night and noticed that, while those almonds were "on sale," they were on sale for 7.99. They'd raised the price to 9-something a bag. (CVS and Walgreens often have those bags on sale for 5-something, so there hasn't been a massive almond price change due to some shortage.)

So Giant is NOT cheap. Plus, sometimes items are listed as on sale but don't ring up on sale (an issue with the scanning system). Be careful, and watch your receipts--at least at the Vienna store.

I only go there because it's so damn close.

PP I shop around for those same almonds. I have never seen them on sale for $5 something. My CVS and Giant usually sell them for $8.29 or $8.69 & put them on sale for $7.29 or occasionally $6.99. I live in DC. Maybe I should be shopping in the suburbs

I do this. I set up a bag, then pick items from the cart in the order I want to fill that bag. I scan those items, then walk the 3 feet to the end of the conveyor and bag them. Repeat process.
