What % do you have withheld for 401k?

Max out at 17.5, company matches 10.5.

I max out. Put $25k in while deployed last year. Wish I had been able to do more (think it's $55k limit)

That's great match. I max out too but get less than half that.

For both of us (both Feds), we do

$35,000 max for Govt Thrift Savings Plan (~Roth 401k equivalent)
$11,000 max for Roth IRA

Oh yeah, I'm very appreciative.

Does the max of 17500 include what the employer puts in or just the employee? My employer contributes about 10,000 so just wondered if that limited how much I can contribute.

Max out the federal TSP, 17,500. Plus the over 50 catch up, 5500. Plus the match.

You two are doing entirely the Roth TSP and Roth IRA??? If so, I'm impressed!

No, employer match is separate. You can contribute $17,500 regardless of what they add.

Maxed out every year since 1991. Now have $732,000 in my 401(k) account, which has the consolidated retirement accounts from each of my jobs since then.

DH maxes out, plus adds in the catchup contributions.

Of course not. The limit on the contribution is employee only.
