Class sizes in FCPS- what is the real deal? (ES)

It also doesn't help that VA doesn't currently have an adequate public facilities ordinance. Proffers can be all over the place in terms of contributions and aren't easily known by the public.

The frustrating part is that we have additional rooms for students, they are just used for other purposes because we are not allowed any more teachers.

What school is this? The schools around us have trailers and classrooms are at a premuim.

The school has trailers, but they aren't all used for classrooms.

If your school has trailers, then they do not have enough classrooms.

True, but there are trailers sitting out at some schools that used to be full with classes till they cut back on teachers.

Seems to me that with the advent of Dale and his posse of Gibson, Smith and Strauss that things went downhill real fast.

According the Washington Area Boards of Education (WABE) for FY 2013 Arlingon per pupil spending was $18,675 and Fairfax's was $13,564. I think if Fairfax spent as much as Arlington, FCPS class sizes would be much smaller.

Or they are waiting to be reassigned. FCPS doesn't move trailers until they have some place to go, so they stay dormant where ever they are.

I wonder the rate each of the two counties is paying towards education.

Not surprising that Fairfax has economies of scale beyond those enjoyed by Arlington. If I were in Arlington, I'd be asking why it doesn't have test scores or AAP programs equal to Fairfax.

I think the increased student:teacher ratio and the lower teacher salaries in FCPS account for the bulk of the gap.

Does Arlington have a Taj Mahal like Gatehouse with tons of administration?

The APS Superintendent came from FCPS.

He didn't last long though.

Did Murphy leave or are you confusing him with Sherman in ACPS?
