If you're thin and fairly youthful looking and wear modest makeup and don't wear stripper heels, that's totally fine for a lot of offices! Throw a cardigan or blazer over it and it's basically a slightly more form fitting Ann Taylor silhouette.

Some of you women are crazy! Or maybe just fat and dowdy...and jealous.

What offices? Wired magazine in 1992?

A lady at work wears pink. I know because I can see pink written on her ass thru her clothes. I'm sure the men love it.

Also, did you see my column about all Victoria's Secrets smelling like premenstration?

Maybe you need to take shower more often. All I smell at victoria's secret is perfume and lotion.

Most of the stuff in the link above don't seem trashy to me. A perfect wear for a weekend outing, running errands, or dropping kids off at school.

If something is done in a tasteful fashion it is not always bad. Just because the tag says F21, it is not anymore "mature" or "classy" than Michael Kors or any other high end designer.

point is, just because someone doesnt wear something that are necessarily called "mom jeans" and geared towards a certain age group doesnt mean they look bad.

LOL. You really think those first two are classy looking? I'm not a fancy dresser, but those look so incredibly cheap. And yes, a VS Pink sweatshirt is tacky at the gym or anywhere else.

I literally lol, when I clicked on the dress. Try to imagine wearing that in an office.

im the PP you quoted. No, I didnt say to wear it in an office. I was simply saying that all of it does not necessarily look like something a street prostitute would wear. Stop clutching your pearls. It's a dress, no it may not be the most "mature" material but it isn't "trashy"

Clutching pearls? Now I know why you wear VS, because you are boring and unoriginal. Tip for you, you will never get anywhere in life if you just follow others and borrow their slogans. Original doesnt mean bad.

OP, please don't come back here, in a few months or years, to ask us why you were passed over for a promotion, or why nobody wants your services as school auction chair.

Like it or not, your clothes do send a message about how you see yourself, and others will see you that way too. Railing about pearl clutchers won't change this.

Or why you don't get invited to that playdate.

I see it now, in the playgroup postings. "Trashy moms wanted for playgroup. Must wear Pink and press on nails. Perms required."

OP, wear what you want. I can' stand people who define you by what you wear, especially with the ignorant 'hooker, trashy, etc' comments. There's difference between being a hooker and dressing provocatively.

What's the logic here? So this means "dressing provocatively" is a good thing? Like when you realize there's a difference between eating a pound of donuts and eating a pound of chocolate, so you should go ahead and eat the pound of chocolate?

So basically, this advice amounts to, "wear what you want, even if you know your boss will hold it against you, unless your audience is 13-year-old boys."

Why do women judge other women so much? We are our biggest critics.

Because the Pink wearers are letting down the side.

Strange thread. If it works for you and you look good, then wear whatever brand you want. When I turn 40+, I'm not going to start wearing just slacks and blouses because that's what all the other older women wear, geez.

I didn't dress in sweat pants and big words like SLUT on my ass when I was 20 or 30 either. I always looked good....

That's the whole point. If OP gets passed over for a promotion or the other moms don't want to play with her, then her Pink attire isn't working for her. And she doesn't look good if everyone who sees her thinks "trashy" or "mutton dressed as lamb."

Feeling good is one thing, and I'm happy to support OP in feeling good about her clothing. But looking good is in the eye of the beholder.
