Anyone former Amish or date/marry someone who was Amish?

I do not think that what the duggars and other religous nuts do can be compared to the amish. At least those loonies have some kind of a plan for their kids to be part of this world.

Wow, I guess yours and others exposure to homeschooling has been very limited. I can assure you that virtually all of the homeschoolers that I know have a plan for their kids to be part of this world. It just isn't limited to being as attractive as possible, having friends in high places and making as much money as possible. There are other ways to be a good part of this world. Out of curiosity, ow do you define "being a part of this world"?

Parents have a constitutional right to direct the education of their children. This is established law, not just from Yoder.

I think homeschooling regulations need to be scaled back further, though I am grateful to live in Virginia, which is much better than some other states.

Does anyone know the type of Amish or Mennonites that run/sell at the Laurel Amish country market?

Those who homeschool still have the kids graduate high school. Amish schooling is to grade 6, some continue to grade 8.
