My husband deleted all Oscar show stuff from DVR

OP, your husband is cruel in a horrible way because it's a way that you can't nail down. I'm sorry. Ditto to the birthday party poster, if you knew you couldn't make the party, just tell your kid "I'm sorry, we can't make this". Use something you can control (and don't mind doing or not doing) to shape behavior. Be clear on the rules so your child understands the expectations and can choose to act as he or she sees fit.
