Not an administrator, but one of a group of ten parents who turned this parent in.......

OMG. What is wrong with YY parents? This is the IT thread. Go away.

Someone takes a cheap shot at Yu Ying, YY parents feel obligated to respond. Rinse, repeat.

Back to the topic of this thread:

Since my number one concern about applying to IT is not knowing where the location is, can someone say whether the school has given an update on the timing of an announcement. I'm not a hysterical, need to know now type, but if it isn't going to be known until the spring or something, I just need to prepare for more application options at other schools as a fall back method if they don't end up in my preferred ward- (Ward 5).

It's probably just one or two YY parents/interested parties. That being said, they are REALLY ANNOYING

They are aiming to have a location set by the beginning of the year and certainly before the lottery drawing. Just apply. You can always turn down the spot.

This. Go ahead any do yours my applications, doesn't hurt much since most are online. I, for one, am thrilled that we will not be doing the lottery chaos this year as we will stay at IT wherever it goes.

Really? You are willing to follow IT anywhere? I am another IT parent and really like it, but not sure if it would be worth it to go, say, 45 min out of my way each way (1 1/2 hours a day). It just wouldn't be feasible because there aren't enough hours in the day (we both work so then we'd have to get to work). I'm certainly crossing my fingers that the location will be good for us! I think it highly unlikely that they'll end up in Upper NW or Anacostia (neither of those would be good for us). I think they are aiming for more central. But I heard another parent ask Zoe about location news at dropoff recently and she said, "no, I wish..." So, I don't know.

Anyway we are very happy with IT, but applying elsewhere just as backup because of the location uncertainty. But I do think interested people should apply regardless -- it's online this year so it's really a piece of cake to apply.

Yep we will go regardless of location. We live a little central. I know for sure upper NW will not be likely and I highly doubt the school will end up in Anacostia but since we work downtown an Cap Hill its an easy commute to Anacostia too.

It seems they have so much responsibility (no breaks during the day) and such high expectations, that I wonder how long they can keep it up... I'm speaking as an avid admirer from afar, keeping my eye on what I see as a very exciting school.

I don't understand this. How can the teachers have no breaks during the day? Aren't breaks mandated by law? As a former teacher, who was grateful for my hour break, plus specials every day, I can't even imagine what these teachers are running on at this point, (I would guess 'empty.')
