Private & Independent Schools
I'm certain your child is NOT a Davidson Young Scholar. |
And I'm certain you're a jerk. I could tell you something about one of my kid's accomplishments that would make your jaw drop. Seriously. But I won't, because I'm not that type of person. And you apparently are that type of person! FWIW (am I really stooping to your level?), we haven't applied to Davidson. And we rarely use the CTY programs. |

Guys, 17:54/11:13 is a troll. She says she doesn't have kids in private school any more, so it's anybody's guess as to what she's doing on the private school forum. The only two possibilities are: bragging or trolling.
That, or she's such a horrid person that you wouldn't want to deal with her in real life. And totally overinvested in her kid, like somebody said. But I'm guessing she's a troll. Back to the topic of supplementation. I'm with 19:18 about CTY. Yes, it's fun for the kids. But there was a thread recently about how magnet teachers view it as something for smart-but-not-necessarily-brilliant rich kids who can afford the hefty fees. I do have mixed feelings about it. |
| If that's true this explains why your kids are not Davidson Young Scholars. |
Don't quite understand this idiotic fixation on crystal balls. Nobody gives a hoot about your suppositions, speculations and specious claims. Lady, best stick to the topic. |
| Second. |
| A sock-puppetting troll. This thread is dead.... |
| My kids are too dumb and lazy to benefit from any supplementation. |
Not so ... but you are. Get a second life. |
|
Actually, this troll is an argument for supplementing.
Middle-schoolers like this one need something to do after school besides trolling DCUM.... |
| I thought you stated the thread was dead? Get a third life pussy cat. |
I'm actually finishing elementary school but I know my IQ is significantly higher than yours which approximates your chronological age. |

Yes! We do, and I wish I could do more. Why not give your kid an advantage? If they find it fun, they get to spend time with you and it boosts their confidence.. I don't think there's a better way to spend time. We do our best to balance out our son's non-school time to quality time with us (academic and social) and fun extracurricular activities (seasonal sports teams, music lessons, swimming classes, etc.). He loves it.
We started when he was falling behind in class and started coming home saying that he wasn't smart. He's super confident about his intelligence now. |
|
nope. Lazy mommy. That's why I send them to good privates.
Unless you count piano, sports, supportive home environment, family dinners, great friends as supplementing. |
| Seriously on supplementing -- my friend's kid is at GDS (upper grades) and says that basically everyone has outside tutoring there. The demands of homework/projects/classwork are so great that everyone has to do it to keep up. She's pulling her kid actually. |
