You’re right. The AAA team is a big deal. Maybe Black Bear will try to have an even bigger role in the area. Black Bear, its officers, and the related organizations in the article have donated money to Wes Moore, Brook Lierman, Andrew Friedson, Stuert Pittman, and others. If you or kid plays hockey, figure skates, or speed skates, keep Black Bear out of your rink. |

He also tried to buy WLC but some other hockey parents bought it to stop that.

Now the WSJ has a video out covering BBSG and their predatory practices, mainly in Michigan. And there's a new bill in the Senate against PE in youth sports, but it seems so far-reaching that I can't imagine it would proceed without some fierce opposition.

Last I heard WLC was bought up by private equity after their deal with the St James fell through. They are joining up with TPH ( which is the next phase to ruin youth hockey with their bullsh*t academy model) They are just as bad. Sure. Let’s convince players and their parents that their kid is the next Sydney Crosby. They don’t need to go to school. They can go to school at a hockey rink and play competitive 16 U hockey. Their future is bright! Who needs an actual education anyway. When they fail out and don’t make it to the NHL they can always coach youth hockey! Rumor has it that’s where the real money is at. |
| TPH used to be involved at STJ Academy. Now it's at ION. I do wonder what all went down after that whole little caps thing fell though. |
This is pure speculation but I'm guessing STJ realized than TPH has zero value add and just uses the same free online school as anyone else can use, so why not cut out the middle man. |
This. Why deal with additional branding and possible licensing agreements when you can adopt the same model. |
