My 13 year old is ready to let go of his stuffies..

Respect his wishes. He’s ready to move on so let him donate them. If he wanted to hold on to a couple he could. At least ask him if he wants to do that. If he says no, donate them all.

We are in the process of cleaning out MIL’s house and now now have to donate or trash all of the things she saved for us and the grandkids that we didn’t want.

Stuffed animals don't really hold up over decades. My MIL held onto a stuffed bear for years and years that had been my DH's. When she gave it to us it was gross. I did not love it and did not want it. I think she held onto it for herself, but was never able to admit that and then toss it when the time was right. So hold on what YOU want, but definitely recognize it's for you and not your kid to take back in 20 years when they maybe have a child.

100%

I think this is very person dependent. Your in laws did not save the toy for you...I hope you know that.

Yes. They saved it for themselves, and then dumped it on us instead of giving it away when they no longer needed it.

I meant they saved it for their son...not his wife! Vehi cares if she loves it. Did her husband love it?

I would keep one or two things. My kids loved playing with DH and my old friends when visiting grandparents. Lamby and Mr Bear are still living a good life!

NP why is that hard to believe? My kids have asked for similar.

In those words?

NP

Why do you ask? Does it matter? It couldn't be because you're just a nasty hater trying to spread negativity and hopefully say something that makes a mom feel sad or worried or concerned.... For absolutely no reason. Can't be that.

DP here- that wording stuck out to me too. Its very odd for a 14 yr old to speak that way.

Keep as many as you want. Put in a trash bag, and call it your grandma stash.

My grandfather's Stieff bear in on a shelf in our family room.

My folks kept 2-3 of my stuffed animals that were in good shape - stored them clean in a plastic container. My kids play with them now.

Do what makes you happy.
