what grades

My 5th grader scored 99th percentile in fall and improved by 3 pts. She’s learning absolutely nothing from her teacher this year so I’m not surprised.

My 2nd grader score only improved 8 pts.

That’s the expected growth for a 5th grader, so she’s right on target?

Grade level national norm peers. It’s really VERY unhelpful for kids in advanced math. I really wish there was a way to look at the percentiles 1) with FCPS norms and 2) for students taking the same course.

She’s supposed to be learning 5th and 6th grade math this yr so I would’ve expected more.

The test becomes meaningfully less informative above 95th percentile. According to the technical manual, that’s the upper edge of the test’s effective measurement range, where measurement error increases and apparent flat growth is both normal and expected, especially at 99th percentile.

Both of my kids are in this range. At this point, AAP math is more for practice than new learning, so the test does not measure their actual progress.

For 5th grade, where are you seeing the results posted?

They don't want to show how many gened kids outscored the level 4 kids

Who uploads these scores and the documents into ParentVue? I assumed it should be an automated process but that does not explain why some schools have scores uploaded before the others. My child's teacher does not seem to be the one doing the uploads. Any teachers/staff here know who does this?

It's in the test scores section.

One of my children's scores went up by 5 points, the other went up by 35 points. The one whose score went up by 5 points does far better in math than the other one, so who knows.

?? We can see all of the scores for all kids in the grade level, gen Ed and advanced math. Nobody’s hiding anything.

Anybody in gen Ed who is scoring in line with the advanced math kids is likely also going to get referred for advanced math.

There are certainly some full time AAP kids who struggle due to being new to advanced math, or inappropriate placement. I don’t think anyone would argue with that.

When you’re already high performing it’s harder to show growth.

But you said she’s learning nothing, so it sounds like she already knew most of the content coming in. If that’s the case, it’s going to be tough to show much growth.
