MAP winter score

Just found out on ParentVue that winter MAP score is out on Test History. Surprisingly DC tested lower than the fall score. Anyone else seeing the same issue?

My 6th grader tested 9 points higher than the fall - which I think is on the upper end of what is expected for the MAP.

My 4th grader tested 3 pts higher than fall. He has been going to Mathnasium and making decent progress there so I expected a bit more.

MAP testing isn’t everything. Don’t overthink the results.

My concern is the AAP selection. Is this winter score going to be included in the packet?

My kid just took the MAP yesterday, so I don’t see an official score. Based on what he said though, it went up 11 points (6th grader).

Whether it is or isn’t, there’s nothing you can do about it, so no sense in worrying.

Was the fall score extremely high to begin with? If he made a few lucky guesses to get there, maybe he didn’t make the same correct guesses this time. The test is designed to push to the end of their ability level, supposedly.

Nothing for my 8th grader in Geometry. He has nt reported taking the MAP again.

We have until the end of the semester to give the test. Teachers are fitting it in to logical places in the sequencing.

MAP improved by 8 points from fall.

It’s a single data point. It’s possible that a few things happening. I feel like my students work super hard on the fall tests, but on the winter tests they’ve gotten comfortable and slack off a bit. They’re also just sick of tests, understandably.

The MAP expected growth midyear is like 3 or 4 points. The standard error of measurement is plus or minus 3 to 3.5 points. So a lot of kids look like no or minimal growth who are just fine. Look at unit test performance, etc.

A couple of my students who have shown AMAZING growth in class came in at almost identical MAP scores compared to fall. I’m not worried.

It was in the 99 percentile range but wasn’t super high… I’m wondering the winter score percentile. Don’t have that information now.

Thanks for the information. MAP is new to me. I know for I-ready the score is expected to grow a lot from fall to winter to spring. Looks like it’s not the case for MAP

It’s one data point that was taken in one hour. Please do not place a lot of importance on the MAP test as a measure of achievement. It’s a screener to catch students that might be struggling. That’s it. It’s not the SOL (test of standards) or NGAT (test of ability).

I thought MAP I snow used to determine Algebra 1 HS eligibility for the 7th AAP. Anyone knows whether this is true?
