When does STJ Hockey announce coaches?

They’re all listed there. Yes that’s the coaching staffs for this year, but it my experience the coaches don’t change much year to year. Maybe one or two here and there. I’ve had 3 kids play at multiple associations and stj had the most stable coach pool. Maybe that’s why they don’t feel the need to create a separate 2026-27 list?

Have you tried reaching out to any of the hockey directors about your specific age group?

Gotta be something at this point, no? Did they have any turnover in their hockey directors or something that would have made for all the delay and no one knowing who is coaching?

I have players there and in one of the monthly emails they were asking for quotes about the coaches so they can put them in their social media announcements. Unsure about the delay but looking at their website it looks like they did a redesign last week, so maybe they were waiting on that? I think they are planning to announce maybe they are just busy since they have teams still playing in nationals?

We don’t play for StJ, but just noting that the two clubs my kids play for haven’t announced coaches either, though if you are with the club already you can probably find out likely coaches by asking around.

Do they have parent coaches? IMO completely normal when it's club with parent coaches but whenever there are paid coaches places usually announce well in advance. Even most AA teams with parent coaches announce.

You people are dense. There is very little turnover.

It’s a mix.

I'm looking at about 38% turnover from 24/25 to 25/26 from the lists. I wouldn't call over a third of staff turning over to be "little".

As someone who has done this for a long time (two kids graduated one is still playing 18U), any season where we didn't have coaching certainly going into tryouts ended up being a disaster. Either a paid coach should be in place or there should be some level of certainly that a good parent coach will be there if their kid makes the team (and good orgs should already have a good idea of what teams those kids are likely to make).

Finding paid coaches this late is hard because there aren't many people who want that role. Hoping that "some parents" can do it is bad because there is a huge difference between a good parent coach and a bad one.

No idea how St James works but I would have thought they would have paid coaches lines up by January since they don't grow on trees around here.

Not my dog, not my fight, just my 2 cents.

Coaches have been announced for 8U, 10U, and 12U and there appears to be no turnover at those age groups.

I know he's been there for a long time and helps run the program but rolling back a coach who coached a AA team to a 2-15-1 season in CBHL isnt the best look. There were over 100 kids trying out for that team and that's the best you can do? I cut some slack for the teams in lower divisions because you get the players who were leftover but your AA teams should at least be competitive. MHR has them nearly the same ranking as the STJ A team.

Just guessing, so I may be wrong. STJ was supposed to be the new spot for Little Caps so maybe a bunch of the best STJ 12Us tried out and made Little Caps, thinking it would be at the same rink they usually play at?

Only the coed teams were announced but the girls teams are usually more stable with coaching.

Interesting names missing from that list. Don't see their director of goaltending or the one coach they had with D1 experience. Anyone know if they are at other clubs now?
