They get make up days when they get back. |
which classes is your DC taking? |
| Are we raising too many soft kids? |
It's only 5 days. If they "forget" it over 5 days then they never learned it in the first place. They shouldn't be given extra time to do something they were already given time to do before the break. |

If a teacher assigns homework on Monday the student could do it Monday night and not have any homework over break.
Same thing if a teacher assigned homework on Tuesday. The students could do it Monday night when they get back from break. You people are so entitled. I for one am grateful for the teachers in this thread who aren't wasting my kids' time on Monday and Tuesday with fluff and busy work. There is enough of that going on in June. |
No one ever said they didn't. The point is that they ARE missing instruction and assignments if they are absent on Monday or Tuesday. The point is that teachers are not wasting those days. The point is that teachers don't have the flexibility to be able to plan parties and filler activities. It's that simple, yet several people (or perhaps one very bitter, angry, hateful person) are trying to make this yet another "Let's hate on teachers" thread. |
My impression is that this varies, as many things do, by teacher quality. If teachers have time to make sub plans and, as a DP said, they’re already on leave, I assume that means they have managed to get through all their material and its not going to be a valuable learning day. |
The test isn’t the class they get back. It’s Wednesday. You sound like a miserable person and too involved in your HS kid’s schedule. Cut the cord, lady. |
Have the test Thursday or Friday. Not hard. |
They get assigned a boatload of new work Monday and Tuesday to work on due Wednesday and Thursday so won’t have time to study for the Wednesday test…unless they use the Thanksgiving break of course. You’re the miserable one. Making kids have to study over a break is horrible. |
Yep, they do. The teacher can go stuff it. |
Not if it's unexcused. |
The teacher can stuff it for teaching on a school day? Wow. I wonder why people don't want the job. |
Once again, thats up to the parent. |
+1 It's unbelievable how much people complain. |
