| They are crazy to let you have access to the computer network after firing you. |
Agreed. |
|
OP, you sound like you have bad judgment. Maybe that's why you are losing your job.
Offering to let you stay while you look for other jobs is nice. Well, it's nicer than firing you and escorting you out. Take it, spend the next two weeks applying while you still have a job on your resume. They are leaving you the opportunity to get some job apps in before you are fired. |
|
OP, some jobs - like the federal government - require you to put down ALL the jobs you've had. Including this one. If you don't, you are lying on your application. And you will need to put down a supervisor's name. So yeah, you want to leave on good terms.
I can see why they are firing you |
Very few jobs require all the jobs. Very few. Unless OP is going for a higher security clearance- they should do what’s best for them. |
| OP is in grad school. OP may have no idea what job apps they will want to do in future years. Or what research grants, fellowships, etc. |
It’s always funny when people who hasn’t worked for 20 years come here to lecture us how things work. |
Let me tell you the chance of needing a reference from them in the future: 0%. |
I have worked at professional services firms, big banks, regional banks, consulting, PE and HFs, it’s been 20 years and I am still waiting for someone to request a reference. |
OT,but on what bases do people hire? |
|
Then do it. You sound young and foolish. Everyone is giving you the same advice but you don't want to take it. So quit today. OP, you sound like you already made up your mind and aren’t open to the suggestions being made. I think you should consider whether you are teachable before you move along. Anywhere. To do anything. And you may not be aware of developed or backdoor references. Even if you don’t list them as a reference, future employers may track them down. |
| Going forward, on future job applications, there will be a question asking if you have ever been terminated from a previous job |
|
Therefore clarify the fact that you will be "resigning," will work the requisite 2 weeks, and get a positive reference.
Crazy not to understand this |

+1 OP, you sound immature. |
