I think you meant that NETANYAHU can't have it both ways. The majority of Israeli Jews are appalled at what's happening. Just like there are plenty of americans who don't support Trump's policies.

The majority of Israelis want the Palestinians pacified and the hostages returned. Some disagree with the PM's approach to getting those goals accomplished, but there's virtual unanimity with respect to wanting them achieved. Don't mistake a robust democratic political system for a lack of consensus around what is needed to ensure the country's future security.

Again, if you really believe that Israel is compelled to commit a genocide by its need for self-defense, you don't want to be traveling to Israel now. At any point, there could be an alliance among traditional enemies in the region to try and wipe Israel off the map or at least inflict some significant damage.
