| University of Illinois has a high admission rate because most students are not in the elite STEM/Engineering programs. Most students are in the, meh, Education and Liberal Arts programs. Two siblings went to U of I and, in their middle age, they are barely cracking $150,000 per year and will probably never reach $200,000. They lead beautiful middle class lives, but hardly "elite" (unless compared to rural Illinois or South Side of Chicago). |
