Fairfax - Southwestern boundary study

In that option the overall cost of the boundary shifts are going to cost approximately $15 million and effort that will impact 23 schools and thousands of students and their families. The goal of the boundary changes is to achieve a building utilization between 95% -105%. Of the 23 schools in the study, 12 of the schools are already compliant and only 5 more schools will be achieve this utilization goal as part of the study in 2011-2012. $15 million seems like a hefty pricing, especially during a recession, to make 5 more schools achieve such a building utilization goal.

Yes, I'm upset. FCPS would rather waste money than EVER admit that it's made a pig-headed decision that needs to be reconsidered. The School Board and its Staff are infallible. The only "teaching lesson" FCPS wants to impart is "get with the program and shut up." So I don't expect them to do anything other than approve the Staff's recommendation at this point.

The ONLY saving grace is that Liz Bradsher will NEVER be elected to any public office again in Fairfax County. She has disserved her constituents and made a complete fool of herself.

Of course it doesn't make sense. They closed one school and there is general overcrowding at others. They need to build another school. This is a temporary band-aid to a larger problem. It's idiotic.

I am terribly upset. They are wrecking my school by having it become overcrowded now. We will be losing our computer lab. This is crazy in this day and age.

I guess I will try to move to Sangster which seemed immune to this mess or go private.
