We all went out for lunch because DH was literally pulling up. What a bizarre morning.

Yeah - they probably had enough other jurors show up and realized that they didn't need you given the juries they needed to seat that day. Not uncommon.

You were smart to just bring them, have DH ready for 10 and just make it all work.
That's what we all do every day folks.
I'm so glad you were excused.

Thank you for the update - so many times we never get the circle-back post of the outcome. Glad it all worked out.

That’s not strange or bizarre that’s how it works. Some people stay; some people get released. Do you think they wanna keep the women with two kids in tow? No.

Every woman jury candidate should report with her kids to be released. Noted!

Meh. This likely isn’t an issue during the school year. I wouldn’t pull my kids out of school in hopes it would get me out of jury duty.

You got lucky. with a cranky judge you could have been in hot water. I really wonder what was so important that your DH couldn’t have handled them at his office. Do you think he would have taken them if the tables were turned? No, you would have scrambled to take them to work with you, line up an emergency sitter, or cancel your meeting.

I would say your husband problem solves this. Likely this involves bringing them to his office, but maybe he calls in sick, or has another solution. A marriage dynamic where be takes so little responsibility for the kids that you risk contempt of court, even a tiny risk of it, isn’t healthy. It’s a terrible thing to model for your kids.

Exactly.

You and PP are out of your minds.

Great. You just set women back 100 years. Watch “12 Angry Men” and marvel at the mindset that only men were qualified to be jurors.
People, please please please show up for jury duty and be prepared to actually be on a jury.
