"I know he had been in contact to get a job with a fire department," Dale Roley said. "He wanted to be part of a team that he sort of idolized."

Just like with most of these shootings, the suspect was a white guy who was a loner, nervous, and high-strung.

Whatever will the MAGA press do? On the one hand they are pro first responders. On the other hand, if the shooter turns out not to fit their go-to stereotypes—lib, trans, immigrant—will they cover all the details of the shooter’s identity as they emerge?

I know lots of firefighters and several are 5’8” or shorter. I think that was an excuse this kid told his grandfather so he wasn’t embarrassed as to why he didn’t pass the test or academy.

I was a firefighter. You absolutely can be a firefighter at 5'8"

Meh, I’m not at all MAGA but I see no point in jumping to conclusions. I mean, he was allegedly estranged from his family and there are apparently photos online as him as a furry so for all you know his MAGA parents were trying to save him or he was not at all MAGA. In an interview, one of his former classmates said “ … Roley was someone who talked about Nazism, who was "very pro-gun," who spoke of wanting to join the military, who would often make drawings of bombs and military vehicles and who allegedly got in trouble once for drawing swastikas in a textbook.

Roley would also say "awful things" related to the border crisis, Dieter said. Dieter said he and his friends would brush off all the comments as "Wess just being Wess," trying to say outlandish things to be "edgy" and stand out.



In the same article a spokesperson said “ Police in Idaho have publicly stated that they believe Roley acted alone and that they don't believe the attack on firefighters had any connection to terrorism.”.

They need to re-think how narrowly they claim terrorism. This was clearly terrorism. You start a fire and then ambush firefighters killing two of them. Anytime someone devises a plan to kill public workers like police, firemen, teachers, politicians, it is terrorism plain and simple.
