Right. The something extra was for T20.

All CA schools, any other school not test required. Acceptance rates will range from near 0 to near 100%. Look at CDS for schools your kid is interested in most also self publish stats in news or on website as a chest pumping exercise.

It’s not just a “standard strong” boring applicant.

False.

TO means TO, it applies to everyone equally. Not submitting scores does not disadvantage anyone. White and Asian students got in T15 schools test optional all the time.

You don’t need anything special. Stop the bs.

Think it depends on the school. Boston College shared on a webinar that while they are officially test optional, the majority of accepted students submit test scores and they really are “test preferred”.

Does BC have a more current CDS available? I only found this one from 2021-2022 that shows 30% of enrolled freshman submitted SAT scores and 20% ACT scores (that may have shifted post-pandemic but I’m curious given public statements they’re making). This CDS also states test scores are considered but not important.

I just googled “bc common data set.” Popped up right away.

Thanks. Looks like percentage of enrolled students that were TO didn’t change much and actually went down. 28% submitted SAT scores and 16% submitted ACT. Definitely still not a majority so weird that they’d misstate this in a presentation.

The cds data are always a year or two behind in reporting.

Many schools have school year 24-25 cds posted now.

You are welcome.

But also Cornell goes back to test required next year.

PP here. What is your DCs top choice? There are a lot of schools that are TO… I would help her come up with an ED/EA strategy and also have a plan if the early round doesn’t work out.

Mine is at a 1450 SAT and trying again in August and September(if needed). After that, he’s applying TO.

Good luck!!!

1450 and applying TO? Silly. I know many 3.9-4.0 students applying TO and their scores are 1250-1380, so it makes sense to go TO. But I would submit a 1450.

OP: I don't know that I would submit a 1450 to Michigan as an OOS applicant. Probably not. But it would give an applicant a better shot at Georgetown definitely.

OP: DC is applying to Wake but can probably submit her 1400 there. Thx.

Might as well check out the other UCs then since it’s just one application.

She may add Berkeley, but it just seems like an unhinged campus. She is pretty conventional.

I would not submit that to Michigan.

I would hesitate to submit to Gtown. They do have a relatively low 25% cutoff. But unless DC is hooked, they would expect a higher score.

Every school should have their God damn CDS from 2024-25 posted by now. No excuse not to. They've had the data for almost a year now. If it's not up, it makes me wonder what they don't want the public to know.

Typically the hooked ones like athletes have lower scores, they expect the unhooked ones to have higher. Yes, they are test required that's why their 25% is relatively lower.
