I don't want to be on camera - Teams/ZOOM meetings

If you really want to manipulate the image shown in these calls, the easiest method is to use OBS software and the Virtual Camera plugin. But, as noted above, it's futile. Ultimately, OP either needs to go along with the expectation or get a new job.

I can't imagine working with OP. They probably evade work and are obfuscating in emails and file grievances too...

OP is absurd. I wouldn't tolerate this as the boss.

I think this is even dumber than the OP, and that ain't easy.

Then find a new job. Problem solved. Next?

Insubordination. I fail to see why cameras on during certain meetings is bad. Are you in pajamas? Don't want to brush your hair?

I can’t stand to see myself on camera. I’m very self-conscious and hate my appearance. Yet, it would never occur to me to have my camera off unless it was a very large meeting or training where most of the people are passively listening vs participating.

It's super disrespectful to the presenters to keep your camera off. Have you never given a presentation, or delivered info in a video meeting? It's like talking to a blank wall. If you don't respect your colleagues even that much, please leave.

If I were your boss, this would appear in your performance review in terms of disrespect, not a team player, failure to adhere to norms, and ignoring direct instructions.

My employee refuses to have her camera on. Very introverted and self conscious. Luckily she's a high performer and we're a small company which tolerates this and other idiosyncrasies more than a Fortune 50 would, but yes, it's awkward and unprofessional.

If its a long meeting and you're just listening, have camera on for first 10 minutes and then turn it off. No one will care, they are all multi-tasking after the first 15 minutes.

Nope! And it will definitely be noticed in my company if you do that. Your whole generation is highly mal-adjusted.
