Respectable schools that aren't impossible to get into

There are two types of schools. Big name schools ... If you do well, you can get a job anywhere. And smaller, regional schools where if you do well you will find a job locally.

Um...no. Prestige stops at around 60-70 on US News or 50 if you look at the old versions of US News (upon which many current reputations and perceptions of prestige are based). The overlap between any sort of prestige and not impossible to get into is slim.

If you look at where the students at the top law schools and medical
Schools went for undergrad, you’ll see places from all over the rankings. It’s ultimately on the student to do whatever it takes to get into top grad schools. They don’t have to be at a T-75 to do that.

They don't have to be from a top school, but students at top undergrad programs are overwhelmingly represented at top grad/prof programs. For example, my HYPSM undergrad sent 6-7 of us to my top professional school. There were kids from no-name schools too, but when that happened, there would only be 1. I assume they were the very top of their class.

This is the problem. Yale Law used to publish where kids went to undergrad and the numbers of kids from those undergrads.

70% came from top 20 schools, with Yale undergrad the largest feeder by far.

The other 30% came from like 150+ schools..so one from each, maybe two here and there.

They stopped publishing this data in 2022...so maybe it's different now.
