OP, All the night owls have posted on your thread. Most of the people I know would NOT be happy with a loud evening party in their vicinity, regardless of whether they have young children. In the neighborhoods that my friends and I live in (various ones in close-in Montgomery County), the block parties don't last until that late, because we're not uncultured hicks, and we respect noise ordinances. Feel free to call the police. |
| I would never be this rude. Some of you have absolutely no awareness, consideration or manners. |
LOL in the summer heat people are going to mow in the morning or evening to avoid scorching sunlight. |
|
OP, I am with you but also surprised bounce-house aged kids are out this late. 10 seems reasonable, and anything beyond that is too much of a good thing. People want sleep on the weekends.
Vent away and know I am with you! But also with others in that neighborhood relationships are precarious and better not to rock the boat. |
| PP again. The world is full of inconsiderate people, which is why the noise ordinances exist. |
| This would annoy me. All the people who like to get drunk and are rude think this is fine. Big surprise. |
I’m a night owl. I like to sleep in. If there was an event twice per year on my block that woke me up early, I’d let it go. It’s not about morning or night people. |
| It'd be annoying because I like quiet after a certain hour, but a twice a year community event is something I would not have wasted my time explaining on DCUM. |
My neighbors are obnoxious and are loud all the time under our bedroom windows. Its rude. But, this is twice a year, not a dailiy thing. |
This. It's freaking twice a year. And ends by 11:30, not 1am! |
| I would be annoyed but I also would give them a pass. it seems like your neighbor does all the efforts to pull 2 block parties for the whole neighborhood every year. Do they also are the ones paying the bills for everything like rental, decor, food/drinks etc? Do they setup right in a common area for neighborhood or right in front of their house yards? |
| l host an annual block party. It’s quite a bit of work. Be thankful you have neighbors who step up to do this and consider a little bit of cleanup just helping out and participating. I’m sure they have way more left behind shoes and hoodies to deal with than you do. Also going slightly over time is NBD. |
+1 God forbid your DH had to mow the lawn on a different day, what a travesty. |
+1 I have very young kids so they would be asleep well before that and one has a nap that would probably be impacted too. But that only makes me more in favor of community activities where families and neighbors come together. It's a special thing and I know we will soon benefit too. |
um, NO THANKS. Please never do this again, I am NOT GRATEFUL. |
