You brought your own soap when housesitting?

No???

You used someone else’s bar of soap??

Nobody uses bars of soap anymore, dummy.

Sure they do, silly! Check out the selection at Costco, Amazon, CVS and your local supermarket. Handmade soaps are very popular.

Don't fall for the lies of big soap

I cannot feel clean 🧼 if I only use my hands to clean myself….
A washcloth IS soft & it makes me just feel cleaner overall after bathing…..

I agree with all of this. I became a not washcloth user in college because I had to pay for laundry. It's also when I stopped using a new towel when I showered every day (my parents still do this) it would have been so much VOLUME! I now use 2-3 drying towels a week and Korean cloths or cloth towels when I feel the need. Not every day - but about half the time.

I love washcloths, really helps exfoliate and get clean.

I use bar soap every single day.

The body washes were a watered down waste of money.

+1. We use Dove unscented bars of soap that we purchase in bulk. I use that on my face too.

Oh and we don't use washcloths. My husband even stopped using a washcloth (which he was raised with) after a few years married to me.

I assumed body wash, not bar soap. Do people use bar soap anymore? I don't think I've seen it in years!

Bar soap is a little more efficient. It comes in a paper box.

Packaging is better for the environment, too. Paper box is compostable. Plastic bottles of body wash not so much.

Exactly. It makes me so sad to see SOOOOOO many bottles of body wash in CVS etc. We are destroying the planet for no reason.

You only use a washcloth once then wring it out and chuck it in the washer, or hang dry it first if you aren't doing laundry for a day or more so it doesn't mildew.

Yes, cotton wash cloths and a gentle bar soap are far better than rubbing plastic mesh all over your body with hydrocarbon soap poured from a plastic container.

99% Petroleum oil and wax. Rub some motor oil and a fragranced candle on you. Same exact thing.

I use soap to remove motor oil. If soap is petroleum oil, how does that work?

I use bar soap from Trader Joe's on my body!

I’m on team bar soap/no washcloth/no top sheet, so am ignorant to the ways of the washcloth. But we have some washcloths and I was always taught growing up to give houseguests one towel, one hand towel, and one washcloth. Sounds like from this thread that washcloths are usually only used once. If that’s the case, should I be giving houseguests a bunch of washcloths? Like one for every day they are visiting?

You have a house guest that doesn't shower twice a day? Gross. I bet they wear shoes indoors too.
