Would you travel or send dc to study abroad in Shanghai or Hong Kong right now?

i've been to both for work many years ago. love them both so much. will NEVER go back nor would i allow my kids to go. you have no idea how easy it is for them to be recruited to spy without even understanding what is happening to them. or to be detained because they blew their nose wrong.

of course, if they are adults and choose to go, i'd do my best to scare the bejesus out of them in hopes that they change their mind.

That’s interesting. Easy to be recruited to spy? DCs university has some partner programs there. Do you think they’re wrong to send kids there?

I have a son studying overseas.

If your child is open to being a refugee: yes. Definitely.

If not, no. Not unless and until Trump is out and we know what the new world order is like. Trump’s actions are turning American students overseas into hostages.

Other countries could respond to Trump’s stupid, cruel actions by kicking our kids out mid-semester, changing our kids’ costs mid-semester, putting our kids in concentration camps, or, in extreme cases, killing our kids.

Where is your son studying?

This is interesting. NYU for example has an entire school operating in Shanghai. Has anyone heard of those students having any issues for things like that? I suppose it’s possible, but I also think that there would be publicity, or the school would close if it’s unsafe etc.

No, mainly because the US government is not very functional right now and if something happens your kid is probably on their own. P
