However, the idea that she was equally complicit in being trafficked is nauseating. If you want to know some facts, at least read the Wikipedia article about her. From that you'll learn that she was a runaway, had previously been living with a different sex traffiker, ended up living on the streets, and was then reunited with her father by social services. She hadn't seen her father or had any other contact with him for years.
Ghislaine saw her reading a book about massage and asked her if she was interested in getting into the field. She was; that's why she was reading the book. Ghislaine said she could come work for Epstein and he would arrange for her to get professional training as a masseuse. Her first few visits to Epstein's home didn't involve sex.
So, try to put yourself in her position. She's incredibly vulnerable, has very little education--probably not even any high school--and someone who seems like she's a very kind, wealthy woman takes an interest in you. Ghislaine played this same role--this kind, wealthy woman who took an interest in a vulnerable young woman and offered a way out of poverty to MANY other young women, so I believe Virginia's version of events.
At some point, could she have complained? Sure. Would she have been believed at that point? Highly unlikely. I think at first she only had to have sex with one person, Epstein. Then, according to her, Ghislaine told her she would have to do what she did for "Jeffrey" for Prince Andrew. What if she had walked into a London police station and said "I was brought over from the US to have sex with Prince Andrew and last night we did and I am underage?" You think anyone would have taken her seriously? She'd have been lucky if she didn't get put in a looney bin.
Not only was she incredibly vulnerable herself, but her father--who doesn't come across as a saint--worked at Marlargo. He got her the job there. How long do you think his job would have lasted if his daughter made public allegations about what happened to her? Do you think he would have allowed her to continue to live with him?
Lets not pretend that being trafficked was her choice.
+1 I feel really bad for her. Such a sad story and no wonder she's not mentally well.
