Yep

Columbus Dispatch:

“President Joe Biden commuted the sentences of 37 federal death row inmates on Monday morning, including a man convicted of killing a Columbus police officer during a 2005 robbery.

The 37 people will have their death sentences reclassified from execution to life without parole, according to a statement issued by the White House. One of them is Daryl Lawrence, who was sentenced to death in the killing of Columbus police officer Bryan Hurst.“

Commuted is not a pardon.

It's just as bad. If you let a rapist or murderer out, they can commit more rape and murder. That's a bigger concern than whether they technically have a commutation or a pardon which may impact administrative things like whether they can vote.

They are not “let out”. It’s life without parole. The state is just no longer going murder them after spending $1 million in appeals.

PP... yes, that one I'm ok with. I'm against the death penalty. As long as they stay in jail for life, I don't care. I was thinking of the Peltier guy and a sex offender whose sentence Biden had commuted around Christmas... a Chinese national, IIRC.

Life without parole.

Read better.

You should learn to read. The FBI killer us heading home.

He's heading home to house arrest. He should have been granted parole years ago. Or pardon.

He killed two fbi killers and you think it’s appropriate for him to be home.

You have zero moral credibility here.

Doubtful. You sound like you know nothing about this case.

The bullets don’t match the gun, for starters.

“It’s finally over — I’m going home,” Peltier said..

Peltier is expected to return to his birthplace, the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation near Belcourt, N.D., where a home is waiting for him to spend time with his children and grandchildren.”

- Star Tribune

You were saying? This is a man who killed two FBI agents.

He did not kill the FBI agents.

Who? Biden? Or the murderer he released? Or both?

+1.

The pardon power should be limited to six months commutation, if they happen after the election.

Commuted is not a pardon.

In this case, it’s neither a pardon nor commutation. Still guilty, no shortened sentence. Death penalty would shorten their sentence. Life in prison it is.

I don't know anything about the murderer that was released, but I'm guessing both.
