We've done different things over the years for the nuclear family, but these are the ones we've repeated:
* steak & crab * Mexican (tamales, empanadas, enchiladas, guac & pico, etc.) * Fancy pasta (in our case the Ina Garten Rigatoni with Sausage & Fennel), Caesar salad, and cannolis for dessert * duck *Cornish Game Hens *Beef tenderloin A lot of media outlets (Southern Living, Martha Stewart, Ina) will offer numerous curated menus - those can be a lot of fun- choose your favourite and follow through. |
I have a relative who does hot dogs on Christmas Day (we don't go to their house). |
| Any favorite savory puff pastry recipes you like? I'll be solo on Christmas this year and thought I'd make something fun. |
Casserole Stew Lasagne |
NP. People should have the dinner that they want on Christmas, without regard to strangers’ opinions. I don’t think Jesus requires that people make an elaborate or expensive meal to celebrate his birth. |

We are Italian American, so we eat seafood on Christmas Eve.
Christmas Day meal is usually either a standing rib roast or a crown roast of pork. We serve it with traditional sides like mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables, or green beans. It will just be three of us this year so will probably opt for a beef tenderloin. |

For Christmas Eve we have stuffed shells and salad and garlic bread
For Christmas dinner we have ham, crescent rolls, scalloped potatoes, and brussels sprouts |
Kind of redundant, lol |
Where are you getting the raclette and how are you cooking it at home? I have been obsessed with it since I traveled in the alps the summer after I graduated from high school. I once traveled up to NY just to go to a restaurant that served it. |
Sorry but a sandwich is as underwhelming as it gets. We're not all together often for a meal so if we are it's not going to be the same thing that goes in a kid's lunchbox. |
Ok? |
I don’t get the sense that PP is making these things as a host of a large group. At any rate, you’re not eating at her house, so try to unclench. |
Same to you. No need to get worked up over an opinion that has nothing to do with you. |
Ok. |
I’m not the one wringing her hands over a stranger eating sandwiches, but sure |
