Glimpse video for ED app

YCBK had advice on it for today’s session.

Also IvyWise put together a bunch of suggestions/resources.

when can kids redo the videos for the RD round?

Bumping this back up for discussion. Are even more kids doing the Glimpse video this admissions cycle? Seems like it’s not truly optional.

Why do think it “seems” that way?

I listened to the YCBK snippets about Glimpse. I think they're broken up and woven into multiple episodes.

Not worth the effort. Taken together, it's just a long-winded sales pitch by representatives from the company that created Glimpse (and charges $22 per person who uses it.) Their goal is to grow the number of schools that use it in order to build their company's revenue. Obviously.

Not a lot of info out there about how to do a good Glimpse video. Plenty of the basic "be yourself" and "be conversational" advice. And some suggestions that kids talk about a quirky hobby or interest that they haven't already mentioned elsewhere in their application. (Seriously??)

Would love any advice from people who know how these videos are used by AOs. If it's just a "normalcy check," that would be good to know. But if it's more impactful, I'd appreciate specific tips.

For example, should these videos be made vertically or horizontally? I've seen conflicting advice about which are better received/easier to view.

Glimpse recommends using your phone in landscape mode if recording on a phone, so horizontal.
