I hate car dealerships

Don Beyer Volvo Falls Church: Bought a brand new XC90 Recharge. Start to finish everything was smooth and hassle free

Ourisman Jeep Woodbridge: Absolutes garbage. The sales agent was condescending, slimy and provoking us to buy a car by indirectly inferring we couldn't afford it! The dealership in general was run down. Looked like their target customers were folks with sub 600 credit scores

Fair Oaks Jeep: So far so good. We did a factory order and look forward to taking delivery next month. We have bought 2 brand new cars from them in the past and never had issues.

I had a terrible experience with Don Beyer.
We went to Fairfax Volvo.

Jerry at Anderson Honda (Cockeysville, Maryland) was wonderful. We just got a Honda Pilot from him and had to deal with so many dishonest other dealerships.
good luck!

They wanna get them off the lots. If you ever wanted one, wait a few days...

My FIL had a good experience at the Leesburg Toyota for his RAV4. We’ve had great experiences at Joyce Koons Honda in Manassas and Owings Mill Honda. Owings Mill has great minivan pricing right now. Great discounts on 2025s.

Leesburg Toyota were con artists when I was buying 5 years ago. They called me after I'd been in with a great price. I drove to the dealership to see they were offering a different cheaper model. It was one thing after another with them.

Years ago I had a great experience at the Honda in Ashburn by the Wegmanns. My favorite place where I got the best deal with no stupid stuff was Springfield Toyota. They are my favorite car dealer of all time.

Because you pay MSRP. If all dealers colluded or were factory owned and simply sold MSRP, it would be the same experience.

It’s because the dealers compete and this opens up opportunities for lower prices that all this nonsense happens.

Oh you're so sweet to think that marking down marked up prices means savings, or that trad dealers don't collude...factory direct is ALWAYS cheaper than having to pay for a middleman. And I bet you think car dealers spend $$$$$ on advertising and sponsorships because they are "involved in the local community." Honey you pay for all that garbage.

Listen, whether it’s the middleman or the musk man who captures the pro, most markets are pretty efficient at pricing. You are not gonna see a huge swing in prices if suddenly they all went to factory direct.

The key thing is that on individual level, you’re negotiating and that’s what causes all this shenanigans with dealers being desperate to close a deal. Yeah, if everyone has the same price, there’s no point in going anywhere other than the nearest place, which is what happens with Tesla so there’s no Jocelyn for weird games to try to ret business but also keep the price high.

On top of that I don’t wanna give any money to musk

And Lucid. No dealership. You’re dealing with the company.

Criswell Jeep in Gaithersburg is a total ripoff. I would take my Jeep in for service and they would give me an estimate of $3,500 for repair. I said I'll think about it. I went to a friend's shop and he said the repair is not needed and to stop going to Criswell. They are rip-offs.

We had a positive experience also buying two cars from the Rockville location.

Anonymous wrote:I used the Costco auto buying service for both of our recent purchases. Prenegotiated rate, approved dealerships, no added fees allowed.

In and out the door in under 2 hours at both dealers, including test driving.

Only works if you know what vehicle you want and it’s in the program though. We got a Honda and a Hyundai.

+1 just bought a Mazda at Fitzgerald Mazda in Frederick this way. In and out in under 2 hours, no hassle.

+1 was very happy with them. Negotiated the price via email first and didn't get any pressure to change anything when I got there. No mystery charges showing up. Very easy.
