Home equity is the difference between the value of the house and the mortgage. Doesn't matter if it is your 1st home or your 4th home. |
|
Equity in house $1.1M ($1M remaining mortgage)
Other assets $3.5M Total Net worth: $4.5M Home equity = 24% of NW |
This is such a great question. I assume the post is intended to reassure the poster that he’s keeping up? |
|
Total assets $5.8m after reducing 401k to account for taxes
Estimated house value $1.3m after accounting for fees and Cap Gains Mortgage= $0. Retirement date : 12/31/24 |
| i have no idea what my assets are. it fluctuates hourly. My home is approximately worth 1.1M, with a remaining mortgage balance of 198k |
| Assets $3.6M / home value $1.3M / mortgage $589k |
| Our home is worth about 10% of our net worth. No mortgage. |
|
Mid 40s.
Total NW is about $2.7 mil, about $860K of that is home equity. So about 38%. |
|
Mid 40’s, HH nw exclusive of trusts is 3m-ish, house is $750k, no mortgage. So 25%.
This is in DC and we are going to move “for the schools” or pay for private school, if that helps as context. |
| Between 15 and 20%. $2M mortgage left, but the value has increased more than that since we purchased it. |
| A bit of a tangent, but how are all the PPs determining their "home value?" In this housing environment, I have absolutely no idea what our house is worth. Or more accurately, I see what comps are going for and I can't believe the numbers I'm seeing, and have a hard time using those numbers in our calculations. But apparently, if they are accurate I am under-calculating our net worth by $400k-$500k |
| Home value is 850k. Have about 250k left on mortgage. Our assets aside from house are roughly 500k. |
Congrats!!!! |
Zillow and such are fairly accurate. Home value and recently sold price are very similar near me. |
| Home equity is about one fifth of my net worth. Retired, no mortgage, mid 6-figure pension and investment income. |
