Maxed out a credit card and have no income

Genuinely, if I want to get hired someone I can find a job within a couple weeks and start working within the month.

I'm so confused how someone can be unemployed (doing nothing all day), applying for jobs all day long for MONTHS and still find nothing. Sounds like BS to me. Or they have zero education, a bad resume, or poor work history or something. Or just making excuses.

I mean, October was 9 months ago. That is absurd.

Stationed myself near big apartment buildings and could usually make 50 a day during the 11-2 pm lunch rush. I couldnt take big orders but got decent at filling a backpack. I would come back in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays and do dinner take outs. Experimented with different neighborhoods and found an algorithm that worked. Did this for 17 weeks till I found a full time job but still kept dinner shift. I had slow days but could make 260-700 a week. I just didnt leave till I made xyz or whatever I needed to live a few more days. Would get a few reject orders that I could keep which were like Christmas. I am blessed bc I noticed two things with other near homeless peers…I dont struggle with addiction and I have a basic education (some college/dont struggle with illiteracy) so I just had to wait it out.

You are a hustler. I like that. Now let us help get into a better job. Tell us a bit about your background? In particular your age and the job you had before. That will help some of us gives you better pointers.

Not sure about where you live but I have been in education for 17 years and have never seen such a need for substitutes. They make good money, too, at least relative to retail (again, at least where I live). Many subs become long term employees as well.

Get a job. And don't say you can't. It may not be ideal but you can get a job if you want one. Some fast food places pay $20 an hour now.

Not op

How is that possible? My resume makes me look like a total loser, I only stay at random jobs for 3 months before quitting (flight risk), and I only have college degrees. I barely have any consistent work experience at all.

Yet I can get some random office job or paralegal position with a salary of 50k (in Arlington) by just applying to a couple open positions. I even bomb the interviews and still somehow get hired. I lie and say I will stay for a few years, even though I plan to quit in a few months (I technically don't have to work, but I enjoy more purposeful jobs)

Places are super desperate for in-person workers who will take "low" salaries (which is 50k) in Arlington. Since everyone with more experience/degrees can find hybrid or remote work for much higher pay.

I genuinely feel like people who claim they "can't" find a job after applying to "hundreds" of positions are using sites like indeed (which is awful) or applying to stuff that has been posted for weeks. You need to apply to recent postings on actual company websites. I think ziprecruiter is decent too if you don't know where to start......... Or maybe people just have poorly constructed resumes.

Good question. When I go to target, giant etc they seem very understaffed so I’m not sure how I keep getting rejected. I think part of it is my location, heavily populated so no real shortage of people who will work. Either way it’s frustrating to me as my full time job doesn’t allow me to pick up things like dog walking or baby sitting. I’ll just keep trying to find a new full time job.
