If it’s warm:
2 tops
2 pants
1 travel dress that’s nice enough for dinner, a concert, wear on the plane
1 dress that can be used for exercise, cover up for the beach, but mainly as a short nightgown.
3 underwear, 2 bras
3 socks
Swim top and swim shorts that can be used for water sports eg SUP but also running, exercise
1 shoe that is good for walking or running
2nd shoe or sandal that’s a little nicer but still ok for walking all day
Light rain coat
Umbrella

If it’s cooler:
Add merino wool baselayer tights
Merino wool long sleeve top and or jacket
Gloves, hat if really cold

Is this for a weekend? Or do you imagine yourself washing your panties is the sink of your hostel? Also—what is an “exercise dress” and are you then sleeping in it after working out? Did you forget to list the heavy perfume you’d need to cover the stench?

Of course you wash out your underwear and bra in the sink every night. I can't understand people who take more than three of each, including what they wear on the plane.

Um, no. I am not 18 and this is not a hostel.

I do this on business travel all the time.

Gross. Companies reimburse laundry expenses so clean your clothes properly, lady.

Nope, try again.

My employer (a USG agency) generally does not reimburse hotel laundry services and I don't want to pay out of pocket at $6 per pair of underwear or $20 per suit jacket.

Also, I don't trust my work blouses to hotel laundry. I hang dry most of my work clothes, even at home.

I mainly travel to Europe where there are easy laundromats nearby - no need to overpay at hotel - and my USG agency reimburses it

We’ll get the car and get to the hotel while you stay here and wait for your luggage! Good luck! Here’s the hotel address again for when you need to Uber…

Seriously, I do not wait for travel companions with luggage issues if you overpack. I’m on to the itinerary and you can catch up whenever.

Why are you in such a crazy rush?

After a travel day I’m ready to relax and get on the vacation. If you want to hang out in an airport dealing with a luggage fiasco, feel free. Bye, I’m gone so have fun with your tracking and waiting.

Having to rinse out dirty underwear in the sink every day doesn't sound very relaxing!

I've traveled all over the world and have yet to experience the kind of "fiasco" that would make me rather have one dress I need to wear for going out and sleeping in, over packing a little more and being able to dress in clean clothes.

But pack minimally if you want to! I'm not sure why you're such a b**ch about people who like a normal amount of clothes on vacation.

Try quick dry clothes, the fabric is designed to wick sweat and dries quickly. Also try running the AC or bathroom fan if these are available.

I wear cotton underwear. Synthetic materials in panties is gross.

+1. Yuck. I just got back from week-long vacay where I packed 10 pairs of cotton undies. It was great! (Sometimes I switch to new pair of undies following mid-day shower after swimming or hiking or something.) You will seize my cotton undies out of my cold, dead hands!!!

You’re missing the part that no one would voluntarily want to vacation with you. Only those related to you and that are forced to be there, would ever travel with someone with as nasty as an attitude as you have.

Have you tried synthetic underwear for runners, hikers, travellers? And are you 20 years old? Yuck? Gross?
It’s not what you imagine.

Underwear takes so little space. Just take enough underwear.

I always have more than enough underwear, but nice try. Anyway, I’ve had a friend whose luggage was lost for the entire trip. Good luck! She had to go shopping which was hard in Europe and she couldn’t borrow clothes because we’re not the same size.

Yuck is a word for all ages. Enjoy washing your polyester underwear in the hotel sink so your carry-on can be marginally lighter than mine.

Ok, but of course things didn't dry in London or near a Florida beach. Synthetic undies would probably dry regardless, but you have to use some common sense given the humidity levels in England and Florida.

Seriously. Anything that has a chance to wash and dry in the sink is already light and small enough to pack in greater quantities

Underwear, synthetics pack up to a lifesavers roll in volume, bring enough for a week or so.

Shopping is hard in EUROPE? I’m skeptical it was more than a run to Kaufland. I mean they all wear clothes over there, well except some beaches in France I guess.
