love the concert tix idea, my 13 yo DD would be thrilled. Ask your friend who she's into now.

You take her to Philly for a shopping spree and lunch.

As the parent of a soon to be 13 year old girl someone giving her an “extravagant” gift like hundreds of dollars to spend at Lululemon would most certainly not make her uncomfortable.

This! Far from uncomfortable.

Mine has Lululemon but it’s pretty basic clothing. For something extravagant I would upgrade to a cute outfit. Alice and Olivia, Reformation, Zimmerman shorts set all have teen clothing. Something bright and colorful.

A fun weekend away is what I would choose although you’d have to up your price limit.

So, you buy lulu for your daughter but would be offended if someone gave her a gift card from there?

Well OP I hope your goddaughter’s mother isn’t this annoying.

I'm the poster who posted a whole long list of other things.

The only thing on here I'd take offense at is the money towards a car, with no idea whether this kid's family will want them to have a car 4 years in the future. I would take that as seriously overstepping my role as a parent.

I have a 12 year old goddaughter who happens to like Lulu. I'm in the process of figuring out my 13th birthday gift for her, which is why I had such a long list.

I've certainly given her some Lulu and Sephora gifts before, specific things she asked for. But I wouldn't give $500 gift card. If I was going to give clothes, I'd either give specific pieces she'd asked for, or I'd give her money in a way that would let her choose where to spend it, not limiting her to any one brand.

Work backwards from something meaningful to fit into budget. Some things are naturally expensive, and nice, but not extravagant, like travel or a first formal dress or (part of) first car for a driver.

Yeah OP tell her that for her 13th birthday you pledge to pay for part of her prom dress or part of a car in the next five years or so.

So, you’re not tacky.

Did you bump this old thread just to spout nonsense?

I should have clarified I’m not the pp. I wouldn’t be offended, I wouldn’t care. She asked for it be special and the Lululemon store is not special. She might want to try something different.

Another vote for gold jewelry. My girls absolutely adore their real gold jewelry gifts and they are timeless! They are 9 and 13.
