I would also add APS started a week later than FCPS and gets out the same. |
The winter and spring breaks are way too long. One week at Christmas is plenty. A 12 day spring break is absurd. |
The winter break has been the same for many years( like 8-10 years) they most likely will not change that. The two days after Easter is NEW this year. They used to go back on Monday. Not sure what the change was for BUT this year the quarter ended right before spring break. Last year they had spring break and then came back for 4 days and then it was end of quarter( which was really wonky. |
The end of the quarter is the reason. Next year it will not be that way. But the days off will still be there - they’ll just be at a different time. |
HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! That's funny, PP. |
Team shorten winter break. It's too long. |
So you want a longer summer break? I do not -- I prefer more breaks during the school year and a shorter summer. Just curious, why do you want a longer summer break? |
Winter Break is a holiday for everyone. Christmas is not a specific holiday. Why is the public school system celebrating religious holidays? |
If holiday is "popular" enough, they losing the monies when the childrens do no attending the school? Maybe if 70% do no attend, empty school? |
You all decided to put equitable religious holidays into the school calendar and now you complain about a long school year? Crazy people. |
This is what happens when you add in all the extra religious and cultural days.
If only someone had the critical thinking skills to consider this earlier. |
The majority of parents/teachers/students disagree with you. |
Shorter summer is better. |
Yes, if there was evidence that enough students and teachers were absent, then the schools would have a valid reason to take off for religious holidays. However, there is no such evidence. These religious holidays have no operational justification and wreck the school calendar. |
The FCPS school board rarely even comes close to critical thinking. |
