New mom kicked out of Uber

He was taking us to FedEx on outer loop and while in transit a huge accident happened and 495 was shut down and we were just sitting there. He had apparently pre-booked to pick someone up at Dulles and now with waiting in traffic to finish our trip he wouldn’t be able to make it so he started arguing with me that we had to get out. I had my 2 elementary age kids with me and of course my phone battery was dying (which he wouldn’t let me charge) but we refused to get out. Where were we going to go? It was absolutely awful. My kids were crying. I was yelling. We wouldn’t get out.

Uber drivers can be completely crazy.

Did you leave tip and a five star review?

I wonder if the husband and "friend" were having an affair and had something to do with this. The "kicked her out of the uber" story makes no sense if they were with her, left 5 stars + tip.

Maybe they got home, they all got in someone's car, then THEY (husband and friend) kicked her out on/near the highway.

Well the ride did end right next to the highway, not at their house.

I’ve been following it trying to find out what happened to that poor woman ever since the husbands sister posted about it on Facebook. What a tragedy. I do also think it’s weird that the husband or the friend hasn’t said exactly what happened!! Presumably they were with her?? Anyways I do feel awful for them.

I feel badly for the baby for sure. Not sure about the husband yet.

That’s one serious night out after having a baby. 4am? Something weird was going on

If you were stuck in traffic, how would he get to Dulles?

I am PP. I had the exact same question but this guy was going nuts. He didn't care. I refused to get out and he wasn't going to drag me. There was an accident with a tanker oil truck that caught on fire and the insane heavy, pitch black smoke was blowing all over the place so the police shut down 495. We were all stuck. I don't know what else to tell you. We were going to a pro soccer game that Messi was going to play in at Fed Ex (was precovid) and had left 3 hours ahead of time. Joke was on us.

In the video the husband says "the last thing I said to Vanessa when WE were walking out...she was the most amazing mother in the world..."

Walking out of the Uber, the house...? Surely, if they went out together that wasn't the last thing he said to her. If you're drunk at the end of the night, you're not saying that, you're saying something stupid. If not drunk, you say something mundane, "Did you check on the baby?"

He must know something.

I think he was just giving a speech at the funeral. I doubt he meant “the last thing I said” in a legal timeline sense. I still don’t know why he hasn’t come out and given the actual timeline, though, speaking of timelines. Honestly it sounds like they were both blacked out if she was wandering on 495 and he hasn’t given any explanation as to why, and where HE was, other than saying Uber kicked them out. (The blackout drunk part makes sense there, too, for the Uber driver kicking them out). Maybe she thought she was hailing a cab or something. The whole story is so fishy.

Why is there a Go Fund Me needed for everything? Do people not carry life insurance anymore?

Most people live paycheck to paycheck, even in our "affluent" area. Do you know how much burial/funeral costs? How will the DH afford the rent/mortgage without her salary. Life Insurance is not endless AND many people who are no salaried do NOT have life insurance.

most people are stupid. i know how much burial costs are and how hard is to pay for rent/mortgage on one salary, not to mention the astonishing costs of childcare and of raising a child in the US. this is why i got life insurance (not through work) when my kids were born, for $500k (30 yr term) I pay about $45 a month. I am sure the fun night out these people had cost more than that. money for a night out with a new baby at home yes, but life insurance no? some people are just irresponsible.

So bizarre.

The police say she was dropped off on a secondary road at 1am and made her way to 495 where she was struck by a vehicle at almost 4am.

Where were her husband and friend????
Anonymous
I'm sure her autopsy will show her BAC (or if she was roofied, which seems less likely. There's no way she was in her right mind.

Husband wants someone to blame, Uber is the scapegoat.

What happened during those 3 hours??

This entire story is so bizarre and there are a lot of missing details. The husband and friend know the truth and I don’t for one second believe she was dropped off at the side of 495.

It looks like they were going from national harbor to Alexandria, which fits the 8 minutes or so that the trip took. They got picked up at12:52 which isn’t ridiculous for a night out. I’d suspect the husband knows more and had something to do with this. His funeral speech was all me me me
