Paw Patrol! I love that, but they do rescue sometimes I see that sticker: Who rescued who? |

People might be advertising the fact that there are cute rescues. My knee-jerk reaction to buyers is live and let live but I think it might be more telling that I would be mortified if anyone thought I bought my dog. If you say you bought from a breeder, I don't think less of you at all though so it's maybe subconscious.
*I* don't say he's a rescue unless someone specifically asks where I got him because rescuing in my community is ubiquitous. He's so cute! Thanks!! What breed is that? I tested him, he is part A,Band C He looks like Q. Yeah, I don't know how accurate those tests are. I'm sure many here have had the same convo. Never need to say rescue except the very few times someone specifically said they wanted a dog exactly like mine. There are some stinking adorable dogs from breeders (have you seen a red king Charles puppy??!) so I definitely see the appeal and most people don't know how bad it gets behind the scenes. |
| I say my dog is a rescue. But not because I care what someone I don’t thinks about me. It is because I am amazed how many great dogs are put up for rescue. I did get a dog from a breeder at one point. The poor dog had a congenital detect that was not apparent by looking at her, but affected her everyday of her life. She was a wonderful pet, but lots of extra work. Some breeders have unhealthy animals due to inbreeding and chronic medical conditions arise. So,want to encourage people to think about rescuing next time you are looking for a pet. And no I don’t say anything other than it is a rescue. |
