Do they clean the library each day after students use the space to eat lunch?

The mice and bugs take care of the crumbs.

Meanwhile over at the County libraries:

County libraries cull 3,500 foreign-language books from shelves
Russian, Farsi and Bengali collections cut for budget, circulation reasons

Unfortunate. Maybe someone will start a little library for foreign language books?

The MS library is so sad and empty. They don’t even have enough books to fill the shelves, so there are many empty shelves in the MS library. The walls aren’t decorated; it almost looks like what I’d expect a prison library to look like. The walls are bare. It’s a huge change from our ES library, which was very welcoming, decorated, and filled with many books.

+1. Goodwill has tons of stuff if school allows items from outside. Books and posters can be found at used bookstores or cheap online.

Dufief Elementary Library - 3/10. Needs better management and organization.

My DD went to Eastern, and the library was her happy place. The librarians were kind and welcoming, suggested books based on things she checked out, and asked her to help out with displays of new and interesting older materials. She’s a senior now, so this was a few years ago, but those librarians were absolute gems.

That's really harsh. Are you an expert in library science?

Perhaps you can volunteer your time to help reshelve books, if that is what you feel makes the media center disorganized.

I like the one in our ES. It was my K Dad's favorite "special" - they loved walking over as a class and picking out a book to bring home.

As my dc transitioned from es to me to he, libraries seemed to deteriorate in importance. Probably because high schoolers are busy and they have public libraries for actual research

Nobody wants it:

"Most of the books had not circulated in five years, Brown said. Books are typically culled after two years of languishing. She said the language collections were given extra time to gain circulation. "
