Shh. Too much logic. |
Yep, I'm at a very costly private and you would not believe the behaviors we have. |
Thank you for the work that you do. You never know what another school will present, so if you change schools, it make not be much different. I know how little paras get paid and it's not worth it - it's not worth your peace of mind and health. Make a plan and get out. God speed. |
How is pretending to get married an issue? |

OP, I'm at a smaller MCPS elementary school, and I can tell you that NOT all schools are like the one you are at. In any given year, I can think of only a handful of students in my school who've displayed truly disruptive behavior. My advice is to talk to other staff members about the schools in which they have worked, what they've heard about other schools, etc. and it won't take long to find out which schools to avoid and which ones people have heard good things about. It can be difficult, though, to get hired at a school like the one I'm at, because those of us who are lucky enough to be at those schools never want to leave!!! Best of luck to you!

There has been educational research done on this already. Good luck. |

The term "eloping" is used a lot in special education.
The first time I saw "eloping" in the context of school, on DCUM, I thought it was an autocorrect error. Eloping is really bad because the kid is out in the community without adult supervision and could be injured or abducted. The school is still responsible so the police have to be called and a lot of staff end up with walkies searching the neighborhood. The parent has to be notified. Some kids do this on a regular basis. The police officers in MoCo who terrorized a 6 year old were called because he eloped. Yes, running off from school is bad. Calling it "eloping' is funny. That is the term psychologists use. |
| No. It used to be a small minority of students were disregulated and there was a structure of fitting consequences. Now it's the majority and their are no behavior consequences. Now the teacher will be shamed and blamed for students having out of control behavior. I do not recommend this profession. There's no teacher support anymore. |
This. My bullied child was never in restorative justice circles with her bullies. Actually I would have preferred that. Instead her bullies were in restorative justice circles by themselves, and we were told it was none of our business. The bullying did not stop. |

Leaving a classroom without permission is "eloping". It has a wide variety of uses. |
