Is not being assigned homework a reasonable IEP accommodation?

I tried this. My son attended parochial school K to 3 and they had a large amount of worksheets nightly. He was above average intelligence, grapsed the concepts, and did not need the practice. It was very very frustrating to make him sit after a long day of school and do busy work. He had huge meltdowns. I knew he didnt need to do the work. So I asked the school for an exemption. They said no. I then asked for a time exemption, like some nights were just harder than others and could we turn it all in on Monday and use thr weekend instead of daily. One teacher agreed to that. But ultimately we left for public school and the excessive homework was a big part of that.

Agree with other posters that if the practice is needed you shouldnt ask for this. But I do think there are situations where you could and should.

I have seen 1/2 homework for HS students. Elementary school homework is absurd
