False. It's federal law. |
OK +100, what do you propose, a gun ban? |
Apparently not since Dems have been trying to pass common sense gun laws for years, but the GOP blocks it. |
False. Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(d), it is unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person “has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution.” Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g), it is unlawful for a person convicted of a felony to ship, transport, receive, or possess a firearm or ammunition. The means of the transaction must have somehow affected interstate or foreign commerce for an act to violate the law. |
And you probably also know the Trump Administration did it's best to prevent this from ever happening. Using the Congressional Review Act, Republican majorities in the House and Senate voted to revoke the rule that former President Barack Obama issued as part of a series of efforts to curb gun violence after similar measures failed to pass through Congress. Trump signed the bill in private, without his typical public signing ceremony meant to draw attention and fanfare. He also rolled back an attempt by the Obama administration to clarify and broaden the statutory definitions of the terms that disable individuals who had been committed to mental institutions or adjudicated as mentally incompetent from buying guns. https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/15/politics/mental-health-gun-possession-explainer/index.html |
What does that have to do with ignorant progressives shrieking that we need more gun laws? Progressives should have a look at the existing laws and see what their dEfUnD tHe pOliCe stance has done to inncrease gun crime. |

We need more legal machine guns with hundred round capacity. The only we'll be safe!
Well, that or deer hunting. Or something. |
Yes, sadly the mentally ill can purahce all the automatic weapons they desire because the regressive-right blocks common sense reform. |

This conversation has gone pretty far off-track, but I thought I'd share that the Blake principal went on the school's video announcements today and gave an update to students on what happened last Friday and earlier this week. Apparently, last week four non-students entered the school through a door that a Blake student had propped open, but the Blake student did not have any connection to the intruders. Security found them in the building and escorted them out and an investigation began. When they showed up again this week, security caught them outside the building. There were no fights and no weapons. There is increased security this week and restrictions on what doors can be used to exit the building during the day.
As a Blake parent, I am pleased with the communication from the principal about this, as well as the increased vigilance and reminders/enforcement of relevant school rules, as shared in an earlier email. |
Double False; you know the trump admin knee-capped this legislation. There are almost no restrictions on purchasing firearms and automatic weapons. |
