LOL. If you think squishy ivory tower administrators restricting open parades in favor of terrorists and suggesting Jewish students shouldn’t be beaten is “shocking”, you’re in for a hell of a ride.

Regular people are done with the CRT, anti-colonialist, fake lefty revolutionary crap. For a while it was sort of cute, in a vaguely pathetic way… like your precocious younger sibling getting into music for the first time. But it’s over now. The leaders of this crap are legitimately sick and should be deported; but the country is collectively waking up to the absolute rot among the young, casual left that those people have wrought.

Really because most people I know are waking up to the fascist impulses of the right — you can’t just deport or put in camps the people you don’t like.

And a lot of young people are pretty shocked by the number of people affirmatively calling for the killing of more civilians. Think Israel has killed more civilians now than Russia has in Ukraine.

The real rot is treating people who have done nothing wrong but be outside your group as vermin that need to be exterminated.

+1 but the people you are talking to are maybe 50 and over and boomers who are pretty fascist (as evidenced in their messages here). The good news is, they are old, and soon the younger generations will take over. The majority of people are not like what you see on DCUM- I hardly even come here anymore because it’s just so … old and fascist and vengeful and murderous. But when you step outside DCUM, you see that these people being grumpy and mad online about stuff like this are the true minority. They know it and it makes them very very mad (online).

Had to chuckle at this. You’re either a college freshman or irredeemably dim.

I agree, but I think because GenX is parent to GenZ they will be more supportive of this takeover than Boomers *generally* were to their own children.

Getting GenX to care about anything is a tall order.

Proud GenXer here. True dat! I’m not Israeli. I’m not Palestinian. It’s not my problem. My world doesn’t stop if Palestine is destroyed. My world doesn’t stop if Israel is destroyed. Their hate for each other is their problem not mine.

But your tax dollars are being used to fund a genocide against innocent Palestinians. You don’t have to pick a side but you should care that your money is being used to fund the terrorism of the Israeli government.

DP that agrees with the GenXer.

Look, our tax dollars are used for a lot of evil crap that we may disagree with. There is no reason just to pick one and draw the line there. And the idea of getting all worked up over something that does not directly affect me makes zero sense.

These folks are engaged in a biblical blood feud across millennia. The best thing we could do is just get out of the way and let them murder each other.

so you think we should arm Hamas? gtfoh. I don’t agree with PP entirely but they are consistent with believing that a reduction in US intervention abroad would likely reduce global conflict. unless you literally think we should be arming Hamas, this is a position an actual peace activist should embrace.

As the PP, you’ve missed my point.

My point is that I just don’t care and I don’t understand why it’s so important that everyone needs to care or have an opinion about this crap.

DID I SAY THAT? You area trying really hard there bucko. I just think it's completely ignorant to view this conflict as something that "has nothing to do with us" because it does.

No, your hyperbole is reserved for Israel.

Yes, Ukraine is/was a sovereign nation attacked by Russia where innocent civilians are also dying. Of course I support them being able to defend themselves.

No, idiot, I'm a war survivor. If it hadn't been for US involvement, I might not be alive.

If not for US involvement then all the Jews in Israel would be dead. See how that works?

Our tax dollars are being used to fund our allies in a war against a terrorist organization. Our tax dollars are also going to humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians (when the supplies can make it past Hamas to those who actually need it).

But I'm not the one calling Jews terrorists or wanting them dead. I'm fine with the existence of a Jewish state. I've never thought or expressed any animosity towards Jews. I am, however, horrified by the loss of life in Gaza right now.

Yes, Ukraine is/was a sovereign nation attacked by Russia where innocent civilians are also dying. Of course I support them being able to defend themselves.

Who gave Ukraine a right to exist? How long ago was that? Based on the criteria we seem to be using, Ukraine has less standing than Isreal.

I must have missed all of the news stories of Ukrainians trying to force Russians out of their homes. When did that happen?

I don't know when history starts for you. Ukraine has only been around since 1991. The Russians have been slowly reclaiming it, bit by bit. Should Ukraine exist? Why?

No country has an inherent right to exists (including Israel) but people do. Why should innocent people die? Why?

too many "Pro-palestinian" groups are hamas apologists. Hamas has always used women and children as shields. They have always used the hospitals as shields as well. Hamas has made it clear that their mission is to destroy israel, they will never support a two state solution. The gazans voted them in , they can get them out

So dishonest. Yes, they did, over 10 years ago and they haven't had elections since then. How are they supposed to vote them out?

No pro Palestinian groups are pro Palestinian. Israel has targeted hospitals, targeted refugees, killed 14,000 civilians, wounded over 40-50,000 and have only run in to scattered resistance. Seriously they have been blowing up building and make Gaza uninhabitable but have not had a big battle with Hamas. Hamas has retreated and disappeared while Israel killed civilians.
Israel has put up some bs about terrorist named Monday, Tuesday, etc and has shown a picture with 10 old non-serviceable AKs they “found” at the hospital. The IDF says this is where thousands and thousands of Hamas terrorists are hiding but can only produce 10 AKs?? Makes sense that they bombed a hospital multiple times, blamed it on Hamas and then invade the hospital.

Israel is has clearly shown its morals and values. They are a bunch of terrorists who hide behind the flag of a state.

Look up the Hamas charter.

And Israel provides civilian pathways and hospital transfers
