Yawn, standard DCUM response when they don’t like a name. Pull out a dog they know with the name. I know a dog named Bella. Should we discourage that name too?

I mean, yes.

I will be the lone dissenter who think it's not that bad.

I agree. I'm okay with Hunter. I don't think of all these negative connotations.

I'm not sure why Harper makes the cut, but Hunter doesn't. Sounds the same to my ears.

I guess it's gender bias. It's ok to think of a girl player the harp, but she should be a gatherer, not a hunter, in the figurative sense.

I like both names and H names in general.

Well, I posted above and my own Malamute was named Bella. A beautiful red.

We get it
You don't like "boy's" names for girls.

Harper is worse than Hunter. I don't like Hunter unless you have a hunting/shooting family background that at least you can point to when people ask you how you decided on the name.

I also don't hate it and don't get the super negative response. It's not my style of name but it goes in a category of names that are not for me personally but don't bother me -- Harper, Madison, Ryan (for a girl), Madeleine, Sloane, Tierney, there are others. I know people who gave their kids these names and I'm just totally neutral on them. In a way, I like it when people use these names because I think they are fine but I wouldn't use them, so it's like "oh good they didn't use one of the names I want to use. Hunter goes on that list.

As for connotations, if I met a girl with this name I'd think of hunter green, which is a nice color. I wouldn't associate a little girl with Hunter Biden. I guess I'd also think of hunting, but it would make think of Diana the Huntress, not a bunch of dudes in cams, because again, that's not a connotation I'd have looking at a little girl.

I see we found Harper's mother. Bet she has a Hudson too. Just as bad.
