I made chicken soup last week, it cost probably $15, and it lasted two days. |
Just stop with that. My friends around the world are having the same issues. |
Exactly - shopping and meal planning is draining for me, let alone going around to multiple stores to save money. |
NP - driven by energy policies and massive spending during COVID with a concurrent decline in productivity. That's how it works. |
People whose food lasts a week are not feeding preteen/teen boys. |
| Teenage boys who are athletes need to eat 2-3x calories as most adults. You are not feeding a family of four. You are feeding 6-8 adults. |

Pick a store and really use their rewards program to your advantage.

I hardly ever buy meat at full price. I buy discounted meat and then stick it in the freezer; organic, if possible. I do the same with butter.
We mainly drink filtered water at home, but we do have a Soda Stream. Never buy soda. We don't drink juice either. I make my own yogurt, which is really easy to do. And my own bread when I have time. If not, then I buy sourdough which seems to be better value for money as it is more filling than regular sandwich bread. I often buy fresh produce at Coco's or other international stores. Sometimes I don't need to buy 2 lb of carrots, so I can just buy what I need. If I do have more produce than I need, I usually make soup in the Instant Pot and then freeze it in portions for lunch. |
Once I went grocery shopping with my SIL. She does coupons, she enrolls in weird marketing things (she used to work in food marketing and knows a lot about obscure things where you get paid for things where you submit bar codes to track your shopping or something like that). Weekly grocery trip took us to 4 different stores with a long wait at customer service so she could argue for her discount on several boxes of brownie mix she bought on her previous trip. The expedition took 3 hours. I was wiped out by the end. It's just her and her husband, they never had kids. Most weeks I can be in and out of the store in 30 min or less. |
This made me LOL and reminded me of how my dad used to shop. Time is money...who has time b to go to multiple stores? |
+1 It’s happening all over, not just the US. It’s not just food either. We would be in the same situation regardless of who the president is. |
+1 I’ve never had anything last more than 2 day. |
