The data was 100k-200k..most moved to PG county because it was the only place they could afford a home.

It’s not some anti DC conspiracy..young people want to own a home and those in the 100-200k can’t afford a home in DC proper so they are looking further out. Seems pretty normal to me.

The actual high income earners aren’t leaving Wesley Heights for Bethesda

got damn since when is 200k not high income in your vapid mind?

+1

The median home price in DC is something like $650k and that includes the areas of DC that middle class families don't want to live in. $100k to $200k won't cut it in the city for most hopeful homeowners.

because it's not 100-200k is just enough to buy a condo in a decent area of DC. 200k is quite modest in the grand scheme of things

high incomes would be 500k, 600k, 1M +; which there are tons in Ward 3

Nailed it! PG County is the last place in the region where you can find 3-4br 3ba SFH with a decent plot of land under $600k.

Ward 3 is still healthy as ever..not so much in the NE, SE and SW (to some extent) wards.

That must be it bc literally I make 7 figures and still feel like I can’t afford to upgrade in Ward 3. I am there now, but I can’t easily afford a new home unless I am willing to spend close to $3m.

Where are these property value drops you guys are talking abt? LIke…for real.

You couldn’t pay me enough to live in DC.

We're still here.

Also, I know many friends who moved to VA temporarily during the pandemic while they renovated their DC homes. They have moved back in now.

These are the people I also know. The crime in Maryland and Virginia isn’t that much better, so you might as well avoid the commute.

Lol. No. The crime out here is nothing like DC.

You can’t afford a $3M on over $1M of income even with the quality you have in your Ward 3 home?

Even if your net take home is 50k/mo, you can afford a $3M home very easily and still save 50% of your net pay

Those same people are the one who voted for high crime rates in DC.

Im a Dem in DC and cant stand our useless Council and was strongly against long school closures. There are many of us who dont cross over into Trump lovers. We are just pragmatic centrist Dems.

I make well over the median dual HHI at just my one job and could absolutely afford it, many reasons why I wouldn’t want to live there.
